We are excited to be coming to the market with ‘Better Queensway’, a fantastic opportunity for the Council and a strategic partner to work together to regenerate and transform a key site that provides a gateway into the heart of our town.

We are seeking to deliver a new residential-led, mixed use development to replace the existing Queensway estate to benefit both the place and local people.

The Council is fully committed to seeking a partner that we can develop a long term relationship with, working together to deliver our vision for Better Housing, Better Living, Better Place. We are seeking to establish a genuine partnership, where objectives are aligned, to fund, develop, manage and operate the new scheme.

Ambitions run high in Southend-on-Sea, both for the local people and the place. We are one of the largest urban areas in the East of England and are home to a growing and diverse population of over 175,000 people.

We have excellent transport connections with two train lines serving London’s Liverpool Street and London Fenchurch Street stations in under 50 minutes, whilst the expanding London Southend Airport serves one million international passengers every year connecting to multiple European destinations.

Our schools are among the top performers in the country and both Further and Higher education establishments are based locally, along with the renowned Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust teaching hospital.

Better Queensway is a key priority for the Council - we will bring our assets, powers, resources and proactive approach in support of this major opportunity. We commend the opportunity to you and look forward to working with you to deliver our vision for Better Queensway and for Southend-on-Sea.
